Q&A
forRegistrants Trying to Confirm the CIRA Aggreement
1 If you cannot get access to the
<https://www.cira.ca/cira/detenteurs>
site to logon and confirm your registration. The following are the common
problems that cause this and the associated solutions/tests:
- Your browser does not support secure exchanges. We have a non-secure
version that registrants can use with all associated implications: <http://www.cira.ca/cira/detenteurs>
- Your browser's security features are to restrictive. In EXPLORER verify
the settings under the following tabs: TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/SECURITY,
these should probably not be above MEDIUM.
- The site is down. Please check if www.cira.ca is functional. If it
is the other sites are probably up also.
2 I get the logon screen but it
will not accept my password. The following are the common problems that
cause this and the associated solutions/tests:
- You succeeded in completing the registration process. To see if this
is the case please go to: <http://www.cira.ca/cira/public?LANGUE=en>
and type in your
domain name (minus the .ca part) and click the WHOIS button. If you
get a listing for your domain back you have approved the agreement and
all is well.
Special note for registrants who obtained their user codes and passwords
THROUGH their registrar's website: after completing the approval, the
password you used will be cancelled and CIRA will email you a new one
automatically.
- The password provided by CIRA can be composed of upper case letters,
lower case letters and numbers. The difference between upper case letters
and lower case letters is important. When typing in your password be
certain to respect this difference and to have your KEY CAPS key OFF.
Also mistyping passwords is common, and if typing it in by hand please
try it at least twice before giving up. Also please note that on workstations
such as Windows computers that the
COPY and PASTE function usually works well for this (but be certain
to only COPY the password and not extra blanks on either side).
3 The logon screen accepts my usercode
and password but will not let me go any further OR after the first few
pages suddenly brings me back to the logon screen.
This problem is related to your browser not allowing COOKIES. Without
this you cannot access and confirm your approval of information and
agreements.
If you do not know how to turn on the ACCEPT COOKIES option on your
browser please contact your Internet service provider (ISP) or your
registrar.
4 I tried to complete the confirmation
but it did not work, or I am not certain it worked? The following are
the common problems that cause this and the associated solutions/tests:
- Log on again (if your password does not work see previous section
on this.)
If there is no approval required of you, because you completed the process
correctly beforehand, the website will tell you there is nothing for
your approval.
If you want to be certain everything is ok you can go to:
<http://www.cira.ca/cira/public?LANGUE=en>
and type in your domain name (minus the .ca part) and click the WHOIS
button. If you get a listing for your domain back you have approved
the agreement and all is well.
If there is something for you to approve it will pop-up after you log-in.
Just follow the directions.
